The
domain is the name that appears on top, in the bar up there. This
"internet name and location" owns to a enterprise, an institution or a
person who has registered (and pay for) it, in one of the authorized
companies worldwide. You can search a domain to see if it is yet
registered; if it is not, tou can buy it, and put your website in a host
and make people go to it when they type your domain name in the browser
bar.
Each domain name is unique, and you can use it for many proposals; you can
even resell it for business, if the domain has a good name. The main
advantage of having a domain name is that your internet adress (the one of
your site) is easy to remember and can represent the contents of your
site.
Registering a domain is, today, cheap; it costs about $ 15 - 20 - 30 a
year, depending on your registrar. You can "park" it if you don't have
your site now, or can redirect the domain name to your website if you have
it hosted anywhere, even if the original name is different.
You can, afterwards, or even whithout a domain, host your site in a
free host (there are a lot) or in a pay host (generally better, not
always). See
Zona Web.
Then, you can have your own site whithout paying for anything, and your
own domain name for a litte amount a year. It is not so difficult. People
think it is complicate and expensive; it can be cheap, or free, and be
good.
